The World Pistachio Congress is already on the road to WPC 2026

The World Pistachio Congress (WPC), the first major global congress dedicated exclusively to the pistachio sector, which will take place on January 27 and 28, 2027, at the Toledo Conference Centre, continues to move forward with its organization following its recent presentation to the sector and the launch of the committee structure that will guide the development of the congress.

The project has already been presented to the sector, where the roadmap for this collaborative initiative was explained, and all operators across the different stages of the pistachio value chain were invited to participate.

Promoted by Agrifood Comunicación and supported by the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha, the main pistachio-producing region in Spain, the WPC aims to become the leading international meeting point for the sector, bringing together producers, processors, marketers, researchers, technicians, and institutions from the main producing and consuming countries.

According to Ricardo Migueláñez, General Coordinator of the World Pistachio Congress, “the objective of this congress is to foster knowledge exchange, drive innovation, and strengthen the positioning of pistachios in international markets, at a time of strong global growth for this crop, but particularly significant in our country.”

In addition, the organization has already launched the official congress website, available in Spanish and English, with the aim of facilitating access to information and promoting participation from both national and international professionals.

Until the congress takes place, the project will be developed under the slogan “On the Road to WPC,” a program that will include official presentations, technical workshops in various international production areas, professional meetings, and a range of outreach initiatives aimed at both the sector and consumers.

An open project for the sector

Following the presentation of the project to the sector, the World Pistachio Congress is now beginning a series of personalized presentations to companies, organizations, and professionals in the sector, with the aim of identifying the most suitable individuals to be part of these committees and ensuring the participation of leading global experts in each field.

The governance structure of the WPC consists of an Honorary Committee, an Organizing Committee, an Executive Committee, and a Scientific Committee made up of national and international specialists. This structure will ensure the technical rigor of the program and the representation of all areas of the pistachio value chain.

The WPC is also conceived as an open and collaborative project, in which associations, cooperatives, companies, research centers, and institutions will be able to actively participate in the various working committees and contribute to defining the strategic lines and content of the congress.

With this project, the pistachio sector takes a decisive step toward greater organization and international projection, strengthening the role of producing regions such as Castilla-La Mancha in the development of this strategic crop.
