Scientific Committee

The Scientific Committee of the World Pistachio Congress (WPC) is made up of prominent academics, researchers and business specialists linked to the pistachio sector at an international level, covering the entire value chain: from production and agronomic management to processing, marketing, health and innovation.

Main objectives and functions

  • Define the WPC technical program: establish the priority topics, select the speakers of greatest international relevance and structure the scientific and technical sessions.
  • Organize the thematic blocks of the congress, addressing areas such as sustainable production, genetic improvement, postharvest technology, quality, international markets, health and nutrition.
  • Supervise and evaluate the scientific poster competition, assessing the proposals received and selecting the most innovative and relevant works for presentation.
  • Promote the generation and dissemination of global knowledge about pistachio, promoting exchange among researchers, producers, processing industry, distributors and scientific entities.
  • Foster a comprehensive and collaborative approach, bringing together all actors of the value chain — farmers, technicians, industry, universities, research centers and international institutions — and promoting transnational cooperation.
