Scientific Committee

The Scientific Committee of the World Pistachio Congress (WPC) is made up of prominent academics, researchers and business specialists linked to the pistachio sector at an international level, covering the entire value chain: from production and agronomic management to processing, marketing, health and innovation.

Main objectives and functions

  • Define the WPC technical program: establish the priority topics, select the speakers of greatest international relevance and structure the scientific and technical sessions.
  • Organize the thematic blocks of the congress, addressing areas such as sustainable production, genetic improvement, postharvest technology, quality, international markets, health and nutrition.
  • Supervise and evaluate the scientific poster competition, assessing the proposals received and selecting the most innovative and relevant works for presentation.
  • Ipromote the generation and dissemination of global knowledge about pistachio, promoting exchange among researchers, producers, processing industry, distributors and scientific entities.
  • Foster a comprehensive and collaborative approach, bringing together all actors of the value chain — farmers, technicians, industry, universities, research centers and international institutions — and promoting transnational cooperation.

Strategic role within the WPC

The Scientific Committee is key to ensuring that the congress fulfills its mission of generating knowledge about the new realities and innovations in every link of the pistachio value chain.

The WPC is conceived as a global platform for scientific and technical exchange, beyond a single event. It facilitates the presentation of research results, the identification of common challenges (climate change, water sustainability, plant health, quality, positioning in international markets), and the promotion of new collaborative initiatives.

It also contributes to reinforcing the international visibility of the pistachio sector by connecting producing and consuming countries, research centers, industry and markets, thereby strengthening its value chain at a global scale.
