The World Pistachio Congress (WPC), the first major international congress exclusively dedicated to the pistachio sector, which will take place on January 27 and 28, 2027 at the Toledo Conference Center, has opened the call for submissions for its Scientific Poster Competition ahead of its inaugural edition.
The international event, which aims to become one of the leading platforms for knowledge and innovation in the sector, will bring together researchers, universities, technology centers, and companies to discuss the major challenges and advances within the pistachio ecosystem.
Production, sustainability, innovation, health, quality, and consumption will be the thematic pillars of a congress that seeks to strengthen the role of science and knowledge transfer as drivers of competitiveness across the pistachio value chain.
Call for submissions to the international scientific community
The WPC invites researchers and professionals from around the world to submit papers presenting results, experiences, or innovative methodologies related to any area of the pistachio sector, from cultivation to commercialization.
The deadline for abstract submissions will remain open until November 15, 2026.
Submitted proposals will be evaluated by the congress’s Scientific Committee.
Selected authors will be notified of acceptance before December 20, 2026.
Interested participants must send their abstracts to the Technical Secretariat’s email address and may consult the submission guidelines and evaluation criteria on the official congress website.
All accepted works will be displayed in digital format during the congress through interactive screens, facilitating the dissemination of research among attendees.
Among the posters presented, the Scientific Committee will select the two most outstanding, whose authors will have the opportunity to defend them orally during the World Pistachio Congress sessions.
This initiative aims to showcase scientific and technical talent in the sector, promoting knowledge exchange between the research community and the pistachio industry.
The World Pistachio Congress thus reaffirms its commitment to scientific dissemination and international cooperation, offering a meeting space where applied research, technological innovation, and agricultural sustainability converge.
A meeting point for the international pistachio sector
Led by Agrifood Comunicación and supported by the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain’s leading pistachio-producing region, the WPC aims to become the main international meeting point for the sector, bringing together producers, processing companies, traders, researchers, technicians, and institutions from the main producing and consuming countries.
Until the congress takes place, the project will be developed under the slogan “En route to the WPC,” a program that will include official presentations, technical seminars in different international production areas, professional meetings, and various outreach initiatives aimed at both the industry and consumers.
With this project, the pistachio sector takes a decisive step toward greater organization and international visibility, strengthening the role of producing regions such as Castilla-La Mancha in the development of this strategic crop.
The Congress already has the support of major companies in the sector such as Solagro, Platinum Sponsor, and Grupo IberoPistacho and Agróptimum, Silver Sponsors, whose support contributes to the drive, innovation, and growth of the international pistachio industry.
From the WPC, we invite everyone to take part in this collaborative international project, encouraging them to explore cooperation and sponsorship opportunities, and making all necessary information available through the WPC Technical Secretariat by calling +34 91 721 79 29 or emailing info@worldpistachiocongress.org.
