Pistachios: from the field straight to your well-being

The World Pistachio Congress (WPC) will hold a presentation event on June 25, 2026, in the city of Toledo. The gathering will bring together industry professionals, researchers, institutional representatives, and sector experts to introduce this major international congress dedicated to the world of pistachios. The event will take place at the Eurostars Palacio Buenavista Hotel, located at Calle de los Concilios, 1, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Under the slogan “Pistachios: Straight from the Field to Your Health,” the event aims to officially present the World Pistachio Congress and highlight the importance of pistachios, from agricultural production to their health benefits. It will also serve as a meeting point to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing a sector that continues to establish itself as one of the most promising areas of Spanish agriculture.

The program will feature a range of activities and specialized presentations. Following the welcome and opening ceremony, attended by Juan Miguel del Real, Chairman of the WPC Organizing Committee, and Julián Martínez Lizán, Regional Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development, the official presentation of the World Pistachio Congress will be delivered by Ricardo Migueláñez, Secretary General of the WPC. The session will be moderated by Ernesto Tardío, CEO of Solagro.

Among the featured speakers will be Esau Martínez Burgos, researcher at IRIAF-CIAG El Chaparrillo, who will discuss the importance of research and innovation in pistachio cultivation and their practical application within the industry. Consumer trends and market opportunities for pistachios will also be examined in a presentation by Worldpanel by Numerator (Kantar). In addition, renowned nutrition and health researcher Ramón Estruch will deliver a lecture focused on the health benefits of pistachio consumption and its role within a balanced diet.

The event will conclude with a closing ceremony after a morning dedicated to knowledge exchange, scientific outreach, and discussions on the future prospects of the sector. Through this initiative, the World Pistachio Congress reinforces its commitment to promoting pistachios by fostering knowledge, innovation, and collaboration among all stakeholders across the pistachio value chain.
