A market that already generates 1.3 million tonnes and 10,300 million dollars a year – and which is set to reach 1.5 million tonnes by 2035 – needs science and research to support it. Above all, it needs that science and research to be disseminated and to have practical applications.
With this in mind, the World Pistachio Congress (WPC) has kept the call for entries for its first Scientific Poster Competition open until 15 November 2026; this is one of the ways in which the latest research advances can reach key international professionals and operators in the pistachio sector directly.
The Congress – the first global event dedicated exclusively to this crop – will be held on 27 and 28 January 2027 at the Toledo Conference Centre and will bring together producers, industry representatives, marketers, researchers, technical experts and institutions from the main producing and consuming countries.
Deadline for submissions: 15 November
The deadline for submitting abstracts is 15 November 2026. Following this, the Congress’s Scientific Committee — comprising some of the leading figures in international pistachio research — will evaluate all the proposals received and notify the authors of the selected papers by 20 December 2026.
The call for papers is open to submissions that present innovative results, experiences or methodologies at any stage of the value chain: production and agronomic management, sustainability, quality, processing, innovation, health and consumption. From the field to the shop shelf, there is a place for every advance.
Abstracts must be submitted to the WPC Technical Secretariat’s email address (info@worldpistachiocongress.org). The Congress’s Scientific Committee—comprising some of the leading figures in international pistachio research—will then evaluate all proposals received and notify authors of the selected papers by 20 December 2026. The submission guidelines and evaluation criteria can be found on the Congress’s official website.
Interactive screens and oral presentations for the top two
All accepted posters will be displayed in digital format on interactive screens throughout the two days of the Congress, enabling the research findings to be viewed and shared by attendees.
Furthermore, from among the papers on display, the Scientific Committee will select the two most outstanding, and their authors will have the opportunity to present them orally during the sessions of the World Pistachio Congress, sharing the programme with leading researchers and professionals from the international pistachio sector.
Through this initiative, the WPC reinforces its commitment to scientific dissemination and knowledge transfer as drivers of innovation and competitiveness across the entire pistachio value chain.
A meeting point for the international pistachio sector
Organised by Agrifood Comunicación and with the support of the Regional Government of Castile-La Mancha, the WPC aims to become one of the sector’s leading international meeting points.
The Congress already enjoys the backing of leading companies in the sector, such as Solagro and Agroisa, Platinum sponsors; Sabadell, Cimbria and Alltech Crop Science, Gold sponsors; and Grupo IberoPistacho, AgroBank and Agróptimum, Silver sponsors, whose support helps to drive innovation and growth in the pistachio industry at an international level.
